And, yes, it's fun to hear the horn-and-guitar-propelled mix of funk, lounge and Latin-lite styles Anastasio essays on his own. But "Trey Anastasio" has the same problem as most Phish albums: Cleverness, chops and jamming simpatico can't disguise the fundamental weakness of the songwriting. For Phish phanatics only.
