Album Review - Sixty Six Steps

If you're a Leo Kottke or Phish fan - in other words, a member of one cult audience or another - prepare to be delighted by the second collaboration between the perennially underappreciated guitarist and the erstwhile Phish bassist. Kottke fans will adore the way Gordon puts musical muscle behind Kottke's fleet yet lilting playing - check out the cover of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" (!) - Phish fans will dig Gordon's humor and the light funk he cooks up with the guitarist. The uninitiated will note neither man can manage much more than a moan on vocals and wonder why anyone would listen to `Sixty Six Steps" at all. Download: "Cherry County." Two and one-half stars
