Album Review - Round Room
Shocking! The better study-album of the career of the Phish!
And to think that nobody of it knew nothing... phans, prints specialistic, perhaps not even same they...
Ok, ok, we make a step behind... 28 past October I receive, being enrolled to the mailing list of the band, an amazing one new that the imminent escape of Round Room, last album of the Phish communicates me, in the storees to leave from 10 December, that is less than a later month and means.
I say to myself: since when a band it promotes the fruit of the own efforts with therefore insufficient advance payment?
Knowing the four not there would be then much to be astonished, but in effects they could turn out to second veritiere the voices which the thing would not have been at all programmed, but consequence of an encounter in the house-study of the chitarrista Anastasio in order to define the dates of miniums tour, encounter then tramutato in a jam session round to some new brani, whose turned out it would have been therefore good to advise the publication of a album.
True folgorazione, or oculata marketing plan? Of sure the recordings four days (5 are durations hardly, 6, 18 and 19 October to being precise), but however little it imports: it counts the substance, that is a job quality gold.
To being sincere, before diving to me within the round room I was rather perplexed, partially disappointed from the jobs parallels of the members of the band, than me they had not convinced than a lot more (excluded Gordon), privileging a heap of vague ideas to one defined musical line.
However little minuteren of Pebbles and Marbles have been enough in order to make rubble in my heart and, brano after brano, every I listen has confirmed the intuition begins them: Round Room represents the apex in the record career (live excluded) of the Phish.
In the first place it jumps to the ear the impeccable production of Bryce Goggin, characterized from a sonorous nitore to say little crystalline and from the ability to give to every instrument the just space.
... And then there are the songs, fairly subdivided between long danced contained and elegant improvisations and, fruit of the thousand infuences and the many ideas that characterize the sound of the quartet of the Vermont: they do not lack therefore the Beatles, cited more resumptions as well as in their melodica garment ( Anything But Me , Mock Song ), how much in those more rockettara ( 46 Days ); the spiritual fathers the jam bands, the Grateful Dead (Waves) and neppur progressive of the years the seventy and in particular Genesis do not lack (sure divagazioni orchestrate them of Pebbles and Marbles and Walls Hollow Of The ) and to amalgamate the all previous callbacks to the album: the improvisation of Lawn Boy , the melodie of Billy Breathes , the vocal pastes of The Story Of The Ghost that, little loved from public and critic, assumes, leaked through Round Room , tutt' other consistency.
Greatest album!
