Album Review - Pork Tornado
During much of its five years together, Pork Tornado - the cheerfully irreverent Vermont band that includes Phish drummer Jon Fishman - has been promising fans it would someday release an album. And most knew to respond something along the lines of "Yeah, right . . ."
"Over the span of three years, we've been announcing this album was on its way - 'The next time we come back here we're gonna have an album to sell you,' " Fishman says of the just-released "Pork Tornado" (Rykodisc). "And then we'd come back and we wouldn't. It was always 'It's in the works. It's in the works.'
"Truth be told, it really was; it took two years to make the thing, 'cause we kept putting it down and picking it up. In a way it became like another part of the joke, like 'Oh my God; we actually finished the album!' "
