Album Review - Pork Tornado

When the wind is whipping up to around 120 mph, anything that isn't nailed down gets sucked up and spun around, livestock included.

That's what Phish drummer Jon Fishman and his Burlington, Vt., band of unknowns - known collectively as Pork Tornado - are getting at. Anything and everything is flying and spinning on this self-titled album, from Bob Wills' country swing to an original funk-protest tune called "Kiss My Black Ass."

It's a scattered effort, but the album's all-style aesthetic and top musicianship reminds you what Frank Zappa realized with his Mothers of Invention.
