Album Review - Plasma

You'd think that playing in a jam band 200 days a year would make a guy want to try something different with his solo project. And you'd be wrong, at least in Trey Anastasio's case. If Plasma had any more jam, it would come in a marmalade jar. From defiantly uncommercial song lengths (covers of Phish's "Magilla" and Bob Marley's "Small Axe" are relatively concise exeptions) to spacey lyrics ("Voices as you're breathing in the timelessness") to endless soloing over repetative grooves, this set does everything buy roll and smoke itself. The phaithful will no doubt groove to it; people who like their pop music short and to the point should just say no.
