"Live Phish, Vols. 01-06"
Elektra Entertainment
Taking its lead from the defunct Dead, Phish (now on ice; mastermind guitar ace Trey Anastasio is strumming solo) is turning to its extensive concert tape archive for new releases.
"Live Phish" is without question only for the serious sonic ichthyologist.
Here's the deal: Starting today and continuing twice a year until Phish fans stop buying, the band's record company will issue six complete unedited shows mastered directly from the band's soundboard.
A Phish show usually amounts to three discs of music. That may seem like a lot of Phish, but for the band's chauvinistic fans, too much is just enough.
