Album Review - Inside In

In spite of his recent publicity woes, I’m sure Gordon’s fans will be interested in picking up this interesting and eclectic album. With virtually no jamming, Gordon shows his chops as a songwriter and arranger molding such friends as roots legends Vasser Clements and Buddy Cage, Bela Fleck and some Flecktones, Bruce Hampton and Gordon Stone among others in to a fairly cohesive sounding assemblage of musical eccentrics. Gordon is the strangest member of Phish, bringing disparate elements of Bluegrass, Pop, Folk and Jazz and bending them through the twisted prism of his psyche and having it come out sounding like a fun and musically rewarding experiment that should appeal to a wide variety of listeners.
