Trey Anastasio will anchor the annual SuperJam as part of the ninth annual
Superfly during Jazzfest series in New Orleans. The event will be held April 30
at the city's State Theatre, and marks Anastasio's return to SuperJam for the
first time since 2000, when he debuted his band Oysterhead with Primus bassist
Les Claypool and Police drummer Stewart Copeland.
At the 2005 edition, the former Phish guitarist will be joined by Neville
Brothers percussionist/vocalist Cyrille Neville, Dirty Dozen Brass Band
trumpeter Greg Davis and saxophonist Roger Lewis, longtime Anastasio keyboardist
Ray Paczkowski, bassist Peter Chwazik, drummer Skeeto Valdez, keyboardist Les
Hall and accordinist/harmonica player Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes.
Tickets for the show go on-sale Saturday (April 16). As previously reported,
Anastasio will play the night after SuperJam at Jazz Fest and has headlining
dates on tap through May 13 in New York.
He has also just signed on to co-headline the inaugural Zooma tour with Ben
Harper and the Innocent Criminals, which will run from June 16 to July 31. The
trek is being assembled by Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment, creators
of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
