Calendar: Leo Kottke & Mike Gordon September 14, 2005 - Lawrence Journal-World By Staff When über cult band Phish broke up last year, it sent the four members swimming in different creative directions. Bassist Mike Gordon hasn't been one to flounder in his past reputation, instead he has hooked up with acoustic guitar virtuoso Leo Kottke. The pair is touring on a new album, "Sixty Six Steps," which was recorded in the Bahamas and fittingly incorporates the buoyant rhythms and freewheeling spirit of the tropics. The musicians even include a cover of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" sung in a deadpan monotone and performed on a Turkish banjo/mandolin-type instrument called a "baglama."
