Live Phish Release Dates Announced August 13, 2001 - Sonic Net by Corey Moss Fan-fueled Mockingbird Foundation donates $116K from book, tribute album to music-education programs. Phish will release five live albums on September 18 and a sixth in early October. The multi-disc sets are the first in a new series of concert albums that will feature six complete shows released every six months (see "Phish To Release Six Live Discs, Tribute Album On The Way"), according to band spokesperson Jason Colton. The first five albums, Live Phish 01 to Live Phish 05, were recorded at Broome County Forum in Binghamton, New York, on December 14, 1995; Sugarbush Summerstage in North Fayston, Vermont, on July 16, 1994; Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Center, New York, on September 14, 2000; Drum Logos in Fukuoka, Japan, on June 14, 2000; and Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, Wisconsin, on July 8, 2000, respectively. Live Phish 06 was recorded at the Centrum in Worcester, Massachusetts, on November 27, 1998. It will be sold separately or with a collector's case (including a "hidden stash pocket") for the live albums. Fans can order the items at the band's official Web site (www.phish.com). Longtime Phish artist Jim Pollock designed the cover art for the series, Colton said. The six individual packages can be arranged together to form a larger panoramic illustration. Albums in the Live Phish series were selected by the band and mastered from Phish sound engineer Paul Languedoc's original two-track soundboard mixes. In other Phish news, the Mockingbird Foundation announced Friday it has raised $116,000 in proceeds from its 928-page book, "The Phish Companion," and a Phish tribute album, Sharin' in the Groove, which features the Dave Matthews Band, Jimmy Buffett, Tom Tom Club, the Boredoms and others. Twenty-six grants will purchase instruments, hire instructors, pay for scholarships and rental space and introduce digital technology into music-education programs in 15 states. The fan-founded Mockingbird Foundation has raised more than $135,000 since 1997. Elsewhere in the Phish world, one of guitarist Trey Anastasio's side projects, Oysterhead, plans to tour this fall in support of its debut album, The Grand Pecking Order, due October 2 (see "Oysterhead Leave Shell To Record Album"). The group also features Primus bassist Les Claypool and former Police drummer Stewart Copeland. Tour dates will be announced later this week, Colton said.
