The new album from Dave Matthews Band came out this week, however the band has yet to start its U.S. concert tour. But that isn't keeping Matthews from playing live, as he joined Phish singer-guitarist Trey Anastasio onstage Wednesday night (Feb. 28) in Richmond, Va., for a few songs.

At the end of Anastasio's second set at the Landmark Theatre, Matthews came out, sang, and played guitar on "Everyday," the title track from DMB's new album (see related story, this page).

The two also jammed on a cover of Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds," and Matthews then sang vocals with Anastasio on John Lennon's "Whatever Gets You Through the Night." The night ended with an eight-minute encore jam of Sly & the Family Stone's "I Want to Take You Higher."

Meanwhile, DMB's tour kicks off on April 21 in Charlottesville, Va., with Neil Young on board for the first show. Macy Gray is also opening up some dates.
