Rock Music They may have different styles, but Rush and Phish are two influential acts in contemporary music, and both just released new albums. Rush and Phish are coming to town this weekend at Marine Midland Arena. Phish appears Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Rush plays the arena Sunday at 8 p.m.
Phish released a new CD this week, "Billy Breathes." The Vermont band, featuring Trey Anastasio, Page McConnell, Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman, has been labeled a '90s version of the Grateful Dead, and they fit that description. Phish is known for its long musical jams, cult fans and constant touring. The group just keeps getting bigger and bigger and easily fills large venues, such as the arena. The Phish philosophy is simple, as described by Anastasio: "We don't agonize over details, we don't fix every mistake, we kept it loose and honest." That refreshing candor and relaxed attitude comes through during Phish concerts.
