At Lowell Auditorium in May
The groundswell of rock 'n' rollers playing prochoice benefits surges onward with the announcement of a concert May 16 at Lowell Memorial Auditorium, headlined by Phish.
For Phish fans, it should be an intimate treat: The band typically sells out arenas. The Lowell Auditorium has a capacity of just 2,996. Tickets, on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m., are $ 26.50 and available through TicketMaster at 931-2000 and (401) 331-2211. There is a limit of two tickets per customer.
The concert is to benefit Voters For Choice, a political action committee that supports prochoice congressional candidates. Executive director Julie Burton said yesterday they hope to net $ 75,000. (About 200 tickets at $ 125 each will be sold and will include a post-concert reception with Voters For Choice president Gloria Steinem.)
The evening is being dedicated to the workers slain in the Brookline women's health clinic killings, Shannon Lowney and Lee Ann Nichols.
