The Phish phenomenon keeps growing. The band has been touring for years and now seems to be reaching its peak. Phish fans, like Grateful Dead followers, are among the most loyal and dedicated in music. Like the Dead, Phish combines a mixture of musical styles and improvisation in its performances, to go along with a sense of humor. The Phish fan club now boasts 80,000 card-carrying Phish-heads. That's one reason "Hoist," the fifth album released by Phish, became the group's best-selling effort in its history. Two tracks from the album, "Down With Disease" and "Sample in a Jar," earned radio airplay. Earlier this year Phish released a double-live album, "A Live One," that brought the group critical raves and more commercial success. The band performs Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Niagara Falls Convention Center.
